Lotus Yoga presents... The Ashtanga Intensive. Featuring Melanie Fawer, Ashtanga Certified Instructor.
Melanie Fawer has studied classical yoga for more than two decades and has found that there is no better tool than Ashtanga yoga for understanding the mechanics of the body, healing the body and cultivating inner calm. Trained under the tutelage of renowned yoga master, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India for fifteen years, Melanie holds Certification from Jois, the highest honor in Ashtanga yoga. Melanie resides in New Orleans, Louisiana and is the owner and director of Ashtanga Yoga Room. Her classes focus on breathing and alignment within the context of movement and dynamic holding, while taking into account that no two people breath at the same rate or come with the same body map. Melanie is most interested in potential, harnessing one's goals and dreams, to manifest one's own highest conscious self.
In this exclusive, two-part workshop, Melanie will be guiding a 2-hour Introduction to the Ashtanga Primary Series practice in which she will take us through the entire first series of the method and provide insight on postures, alignment & breath within the Ashtanga system. Afterwards, students are encouraged to stay for a Q&A session with Melanie & Chloë. Feel free to ask anything about the Ashtanga system, Melanie's experience spanning more than 20 years in the yoga biz, traveling to India to study & learn, the future of yoga, specific postures within the system, breath work, cultivating a practice with consistency & longevity, and questions on the future of Ashtanga Yoga with Lotus Yoga in Winston-Salem!
